Report: Making Grad School Accessible 2021

(English & French)

On Wednesday October 20th, ACMP hosted it’s third ‘How to get into grad school’ event. This event was focused on sharing tips and techniques that students could use when refining their applications before applying to post-graduate programs. This included information like finding programs that work for you, preparing an application and gaining relevant experience before applying to graduate school.

The event included a panel discussion meant to inform participants about the necessities of applying to and succeeding in graduate studies. The panel featured 4 members including Warren Clarke (professor – UManitoba), Dr. Evelyn Asiedu (post-doc – Chemistry), Kayonne Christy (PhD Candidate – University of Michigan) and Peter Holder (PhD Candidate – Carleton University). These members of the academic community actively engaged with audience members to answer their questions about all facets of grad school. In addition to the panel members, the event also featured a keynote speech from Dr. Nduka Otiono (African Studies) who motivated students to explore their curiosities and strive for greatness when applying for graduate studies.
