Looking At The Man In The Mirror
Conference & Event
The Barbershop Talk Series Conference Black Boys and Men, Misconceptions, and Mental Health: Looking at the Man In The Mirror (academic and community) in Barbados is a unique platform designed to address the mental health challenges faced by Black boys and men, particularly within the Caribbean context.
We will explore critical issues such as vulnerabilities, emotional language, fatherhood, and societal expectations. The Barbershop Talk Series Conference invites both University scholars and community advocates to contribute to the conversation on mental health, societal expectations, and the social experiences of Black boys and men. The event seeks to challenge stereotypes, address mental health issues, and foster dialogue that promotes the well-being of Black males.
We expect a diverse group of attendees, including scholars, community activists, health professionals, and social media influencers, who will share insights, engage in meaningful discussions, and develop actionable solutions.
